HIS then CARE2X

Last week, I am busy to finish my assignment. What is my assignment? Make software requirement spesification (SRS) for hospital information system. Yaps, there is a project to develop hospital information system from my university. My supervisor is Mr. Jazi. The analyst team consist of 5 members, me, Mr Andi, Mr. Yoga, Mr. Idham and Mr. Wicak and again..me the most beautiful, the only girl, and the only lady..hehehheh OOT.

Because, we don’t have clear business process yet, so we study from an open source hospital information system, CARE2X. You can download the system in here. We have decided that there are five modules : outpatient module, person management module, billing module, pharmacy module and laboratory module. We have discussed with Mr. Anis and Mr.Lutfan from medical faculty and Ms. Yulis, from pharmacy faculty, to make appropriate analysis. I got many knowledge from this discussion, especially for hospital business process.

CARE2X is a powerful open source system, especially to handle inpatient business process. If I am not wrong, according to Mr.Anis, this system using DRG and ICD with Germany format. Billing modul in CARE2X has not been integrated with the others like pharmacy modul etc. Yaps with limited time, the SRS has been finished. This specification will be discussed again in large forum of expert domain. The conclusion….analyzing is more and more difficult than programming. First, we think for the implementation step, we will modified CARE2X, but after the analysis step, our thought is changed, we will develop itself from the beginning.

Hohohoho…hospital information system…

TOEFL…

What is TOEFL?
TOEFL = Test of English as a Foreign Language

From the name, it means that TOEFL only for someone whose native language is not english, like me, I am Indonesian :D . TOEFL is usually used as one of the enrollment requirements in International universities and its scholarship. My friend asked me, “Fia, have you taken TOEFL?”. Before answer this question, I reply the question “Which TOEFL?”..

Yaaaa..as long I know, there are three kinds of TOEFL, prediction TOEFL, ITP TOEFL and International TOEFL. I will try to explain that.

Prediction TOEFL, usually held by university as one of the requirements to enroll university or to graduate from university. For example, in my university, there is a english test center. Student who will be graduated for bachelor degree have to get minimum score 450 for his prediction TOEFL. This is paper based test, consists of three section, reading, listening, and structure written section. The minimum score is 310 and the maximum score is 677. The price of this test is about 40.000 rupiahs until 75.000 rupiahs, it differs according to the test center.

Second, ITP (Institutional Testing Program) TOEFL, held by ETS in many english training centers. This TOEFL can be used to apply some scholarships, like ADS, Hitachi, Monbusho or student exchange programs but not for enrolling international universities. The test is similar with prediction TOEFL, paper based test, consist of three section and having same minimum and maximum score, 310 - 677. The price of this test is about $27.5.

Third, International TOEFL, also held by ETS. There are two kinds of International TOEFL, IBT (internet based TOEFL) and PBT(paper based toefl). IBT is more convenient than paper based, because we can do the test via internet, and the result is faster than PBT. This TOEFL is used to enroll international universities and its scholarship like Erasmus Mundus, Ford Foundation, Endeavour etc. I think there is no university and scholarship that refuse this test result. Most of universities in Europe, Australia and America declare that International TOEFL or IELTS is one of the mandatory requirements. The price of this test is $165, so U have to prepare, if U want to take this test.

Hufff now, I want to take IBT TOEFL….

Hope it can be useful :D

This is My Choice

Thusrday, 26 February, I got a sms from my friend working in KUI UGM, “Congratulation for ur scholarship!!”. First, I was confused, then I confirmed to my friend. Alhamdulillah, thanks to Allah SWT, I got ASEA UNINET scholarship, on place program. My study in Magister of Computer Science, UGM will be funded by Austria Government, and there is chance to continue my Ph.D in Austria.

Thursday, 5 March, I got an email from Secretary of Erasmus Mundus Program for Computational Logic,

> Dear Ms Afiahayati Afiahayati
>
> We are glad to inform you that the joint commission of the European
> Master’s Program in Computational Logic has accepted your application.
> This is subject to the final decision by the local International Office.
> We confirm that you has been selected as a candidate for the Erasmus
> Mundus scholarship. We are currently waiting for the approval by the
> European Commission. The final decision of the EC will be announced by
> the end of May and we will contact you soon afterwards. Only after the
> approval by the EC we can provide further information, i.e about the
> placements in your future host institutions.

Alhamdulillah, my application to the Mundus program was accepted. But I have to send my IBT score. The deadline is 1 May and the announcement for my scholarship is on 31 May. In my mind, in September, I will go to German. I chose dual degree between German and Austria.

I told this great news to my mother. My mother said “How about ur ASEA UNINET scholarship?” In my mind, I have to go to Europe, only it, I said to my mom, “Mom I will be unactive in MKom UGM, then I go to Europe, then I will back to Indonesia continue my study in MKom”. My Mother said, “Fi, discuss this case to ur lecturer! U study in Indonesia or in Europe is Ok for me!”

I discussed this to my lecturers and my senior in my working place. I can’t estimate their answer.
My lecturers said, “How about ur ASEA UNINET scholarship? Ur Mundus program is conditional, U have to send ur IBT score. If I am were U, I will choose the scholarship that was finally announced.” My answer, “Sir, so I don’t continue my application to Mundus, send my IBT score?”. Their answer,”What is ur aim if U send ur IBT score? If U send IBT score then U get the scholarship, U will be more confused. U have to choose one scholarship and one of ur sponsors will be disappointed.”
My senior said “ASEA UNINET is prestigious scholarship. The scholarship is only for student of prestigious university in Indonesia. U has been interviewed by Professor from there. I think U finish ur Master degree in Indonesia then continue ur Ph.D in foreign. Ur sponsor has believed U. Trust is everything.”

First, my feeling. “Ya Allah, I want to study in Europe”. I discuss this to my close friend.
She said “Fi, examination from Allah not only dissaster but also comfort. U have to thanks to Allah. There are a lot of people that is not lucky like U. This is ur time to make decision, choose the best.”

Ya, I think that I am greedy. I get the scholarship and then I want more. Please forgive me ya Allah. I have to take the right choice. First, I only think myself, study in Europe for my master degree.

My decision, I don’t continue my application to Mundus, I take the ASEA UNINET scholarship and make an optimal study in Indonesia. I am sure that Allah will give the best for me. Hope, I will continue my study in foreign, either for master or PhD. Next year, I will apply Mundus again, of course with my IBT TOEFL. Hiks…hiks…He..he.. :p
